About the Great ShakeOut
At 10:16 A.M. on October 16, all Bruins—whether on campus, working or studying from home—are asked to participate in the one-minute "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" drill as part of the Great ShakeOut. The ShakeOut exercise brings awareness to earthquake safety and can help save lives. A test of the BruinALERT emergency notification system will occur simultaneously at 10:16 a.m. on October 16. Thank you for your partnership; Resilient Bruins Prepare!
“With each exercise, Emergency Management has the opportunity to improve upon our preparedness and response. For drill participants, it gives a practical look at the experience of a real earthquake emergency. Thinking through an action plan in advance helps you stay calmer and more focused when the real thing occurs."
— Lisa Martin, director, UCLA Office of Emergency Management
