What to Look for When Receiving a Suspicious Letter
- No return address
- Restrictive markings
- Misspelled words
- Unknown powder or suspicious substance
- Possibly mailed from a foreign country
- Excessive postage
- If you receive a suspicious letter:
- Stop! Do NOT handle it
- Isolate it immediately
- Do not open, smell or taste it
- Immediately call UCPD opens a new window by calling 9-1-1.
What to Look for When Receiving a Suspicious Package
- Excessive tape
- Oily stains and/or discoloration on wrapping
- Strange odor
- Addressed incorrectly
- Rigid or bulky
- Lopsided or uneven
- Protruding wires
- If you receive a suspicious package:
- Stop! Do NOT handle it
- Isolate it immediately
- Do not open, smell or taste it
